Glamping on a castle estate in the Dordogne
Nestled amidst the green hills of the Dordogne lies Domaine d’Essendiéras, a unique estate covering no less than 360 hectares. Situated on one of the highest points in the region, you can enjoy stunning views over the Isle Valley. On this vast estate in the heart of the Périgord, you’ll stay surrounded by forests, meadows, lakes and two magnificent castles that lend the landscape an almost fairy-tale atmosphere.
At Domaine d’Essendiéras, you’ll never be bored. There are two swimming pools and two swimming lakes with small beaches. The water slopes gently here, so even young children can splash about safely and build sandcastles. Pedalos are available, and fishing is also an option.
One of the children’s favourite spots is the newly renovated Play Island. This fully fenced outdoor playground is accessed via a small bridge from the campsite and features a climbing frame, slide, cable car, trampoline and swings. The estate also has an indoor padel court, tennis court, football pitch, beach volleyball court, boules court, 9-hole golf course, fishing ponds and over 25 kilometres of walking and mountain biking trails. In the summer months, horse riding activities are organised on a frequent basis.
Several times a week, you can join the Table d'Hôtes in the castle courtyard. It’s a lovely setting where you can enjoy local dishes alongside other guests. Fresh bread is available every morning.
The safari tents are situated at the small-scale La Bruyère campsite, surrounded by greenery amongst the lakes. A lovely spot for families who love peace, nature and space, but still want to make use of top-notch facilities. As all the tents are grouped together, children often make friends on the very first day of their holiday. The tents are fully equipped for a relaxing stay. You’ll have comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious veranda and a private bathroom right next to the tent.
Domaine d’Essendiéras is a special destination for families who love nature, space and a relaxed atmosphere. A mini-campsite on a vast estate, where children have complete freedom and parents enjoy peace, comfort and the beautiful Dordogne countryside.
The Dordogne is renowned for its castles, caves, rivers and charming villages. There are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area.
