Camping La Bretonnière is located in the Vendée, just a 10-minute drive from the beautiful sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast. The campsite has been owned by the same family for more than 20 years, who have lovingly and carefully developed it from a small farm campsite into a spacious, family-friendly campsite. The village of Saint-Julien-des-Landes is about two kilometres away. The surrounding area is rural, while the green campsite itself has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere.
The campsite has two indoor swimming pools, one of which is heated, as well as water play areas and a paddling pool. There are two playgrounds, an indoor play area and trampolines. During the high season, the campsite offers Dutch-language entertainment with an extensive programme. There are various sports facilities, including a football pitch, tennis court, beach volleyball court and pétanque court. There is also a small lake at the campsite where you can go fishing.
The snack bar serves simple but good-quality meals. There is also a small shop where you can pick up fresh bread and croissants every morning.
This friendly family campsite is known as a flower campsite, thanks to its beautiful trees, flowers and plants. You’ll stay on spacious pitches surrounded by greenery.
The Vendée is known for its many hours of sunshine. Its location close to the coast makes La Bretonnière ideal for families looking for peace and quiet while also wanting to enjoy life on the beach.
Tips for things to do near La Bretonnière
- Go cycling along the more than 800 km of dedicated cycle paths – bicycles can be hired at the campsite
- The nearby Lake Jaunay is ideal for fishing, canoeing, pedal boating, rowing, stand-up paddleboarding and surfing
- Visit cities such as Nantes and La Rochelle
- Discover the beautiful rugged coastline around St Hilaire de Riez
- Enjoy the beautiful beaches near the seaside resorts of Olonne-sur-Mer and Bretignolles-sur-Mer, or the large beach at Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie
- Visit Le Grand Défi adventure park, with various climbing courses. It is suitable for the youngest visitors but also offers a challenge for experienced climbers. (Tip: bring a packed lunch)
- Explore the many walking trails around Lake Jaunay and the Pays des Achards
- Soak up the maritime atmosphere in Les Sables d’Olonne
- Visit Le Potager Extraordinaire, a botanical garden with around 1,500 plant species
- Visit Île d’Yeu. A one-hour boat trip from Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie takes you to this wild and unspoilt island
- Visit the island of Île-de-Noirmoutier
- Visit the Puy du Fou theme park and discover the history of France
- Visit La Folie de Finfarine, where you can learn all about bees and honey
